Tube style bird feeders are come into their own over the
last 15 to 20 years. These feeders work well when used in
conjunction with Black Oil Sunflower seed.
This is because the types of birds the frequent this style bird feeder
prefer this type of seed and black oil sunflower does not mold as
quickly as other types of bird seed. If you are getting a mixed
seed, chances are that it contains millet (a little white round seed)
this is preferred more by ground feeding birds such as Mourning Doves.
You mix may also contain slightly larger round red seeds, this is called
Milo, if you live on the east of the Rockies in the US there are few if
any birds that prefer this seed but rodents such as squirrels love it.

I would however, put only black oil
